If you want to navigate to a different waypoint before joining 
the route, press the 

 to select that waypoint and 

then press the 

 menu key, and the   key. 

If you begin by navigating directly to a waypoint in the route, 
the unit calculates a new track line from your position to that 
waypoint. Your cross-track error starts at zero, because you’re 
exactly on this new line.

If you want to begin navigating along an existing leg of the 
route, rather than directly to a waypoint, select that leg by 
moving the cursor onto the leg, and pressing the 

 menu key, and then the   key. In this case, your 
cross-track error starts at a number that’s your distance from 
that leg. The leg you’re currently navigating along is displayed 
as a black line (green in the night palette) with arrows indicat-
ing your direction of travel; other legs are displayed in gray.

When navigating from one waypoint to another, you may find 
you’ve wandered off the intended course line. Perhaps you 
avoided an obstacle or drifted slightly off-course. Whenever 
you’re off-course for any reason, you may choose either of two 
methods for getting back on course.

After passing the obstacle, you can steer the boat back to 
the original course line using the cross-track error display, 
and continue to the waypoint (Course 1 below).
