Configuring MAC address-based security

The following table describes the items on the Security Configuration
page.

(1) Enabled
(2) Disabled

Enables the MAC address security features.
After this field is set to enabled, the software
checks the source MAC addresses of
the packets that arrive on the secure
ports against MAC addresses listed in the
MAC Address Security Table for allowed
membership. If the software detects a
source MAC address that is not an allowed
member, the software registers a MAC
intrusion event.

After this field is set to enabled, the
MAC address security screens cannot be
modified by using SNMP.

Partition Port
on Intrusion
Detected

(1) Forever
(2) Enabled
(3) Disabled

Configures how the switch reacts to an
intrusion event (see MAC Address Security
field):

Disabled— The port remains enabled, even
if an intrusion event is detected.

Enabled— The port is disabled, then
automatically reset to enabled after the time
specified in the Partition Time field elapses.

Forever— The port is disabled and remains
disabled (partitioned) until reset. The port
does not reset after the Partition Time
elapses.

You must manually reenable the port.
