Discontinuance of Manufacture – XA-Core Circuit Pack NTLX06AB

Dear Customer,

In keeping with Nortel Networks commitments to continually evolve our products, we
are announcing the manufacture discontinuance (MD) of the Extended Architecture Core
(XA-Core) 8.4 GB disk drive packlet NTLX06AB.  The direct replacement to be delivered
with new XA-Core offices will be the NTLX06AC 34.2 GB disk packlet.  The NTLX06AB
circuit pack, currently used in existing XA-Core offices, continues to be supported and repair
service is available.

The introduction of the NTLX06AC 34.2 GB disk was in June 2002.  This disk has been
delivered to XA-Core offices release 17 and above.  With the MD of NTLX06AB, the
replacement disk will now be delivered to XA-Core offices on all active MultiCore releases.
The replacement disk is almost 4 times larger and has the same list price as the NTLX06AB
disk.

Office Configurations – Mixing and Upgrades

Mixing the current and replacement disk in an XA-Core office is not supported.  Each
office is configured with two disk drives, and they must both be of the same type, either
NTLX06AB or NTLX06AC, and a cold spare for the office should match what is in the
shelf.

MultiCore offices on active software loads have the option of upgrading their NTLX06AB
drives to NTLX06AC.  While the upgrade option is available, an upgrade from the
NTLX06AB drive to the NTLX06AC drive is not required.

Last Order Information

There is no last-time buy for this circuit pack.  There is a replacement available.

Replacement Information

The replacement pack is NTLX06AC.  This pack delivers almost four times the disk
storage space over NTLX06AB.  NTLX06AC has been available since June 2002.  List
price of the NTLX06AC is equal to the NTLX06AB.

Manufacture Discontinue Definition

This MD notice serves as formal communication to customers documenting the effective
change of status date and the resultant cessation in accepting new orders.  The MD of
these circuit packs should not be interpreted as the discontinuance of any Nortel
Networks agreements to support the existing field population.  Services to the existing
product base will continue to be provided until the forecasted End of Life date of the PEC.
