Nortel WLAN—Management Software 2300 Series Reference Guide

Start WLAN Management Software client. Do one of the following:

On Linux systems, change directories to WMS_installation_directory/bin, and enter ./
WMS.

The WLAN Management Software Services Connection dialog appears.

Enter the IP address or fully-qualified hostname of the machine on which the service is 
installed. 

If the service is installed on the same machine as the one you are using to run WLAN 
Management Software, enter 127.0.0.1 as the IP address. This is a standard IP loopback 
address. 

Specify the service port, if different from the port number in the Service Port pull-down list. 

Enter a username and password, if required for access to the service. 

Usernames and passwords for accessing WMS Services are configured on the Service Settings 
tab. (See 

To configure WLAN Management Software client to remember the username and password for 
WMS Service access, select Remember user name and password.

To automatically reopen the network plan that you worked with most recently, leave Open 
Network Plan selected. 

If the Open Network Plan option is selected and this is the first time you are accessing the 
server from this client, WLAN Management Software Services opens a new (blank) network 
plan.

Click Next.

If a firewall is enabled on the host where you install WMS Services, WMS 

Services will not be able to communicate with WLAN Management Software client or with 
WSSs unless the firewall is configured to allow through traffic for the SSL and SNMP ports 
(443 and 162 by default).

The port number used by WMS Services must not be used by another 

application on the machine where WMS Services is installed. If the port number is 
used by another application, change the port number on WMS Services. (See
