Managing Remote Access Concentrators Using Annex Manager
Chapter 5
Booting and Resetting RACs
When you change parameters for one or more RACs on the network, the
RACs do not automatically updated to reflect the new information. You
must boot the affected RACs to update them.
You can also change a specific RAC or port configuration without booting,
thereby resetting port and interface settings, several configuration file
options, and name servers.
When you intend to boot or reset RACs, you should broadcast a message
to users of terminals connected to these RACs, letting them know about
the boot and updates.
This chapter describes how to:
Boot a RAC
Reset a RAC configuration
Broadcast messages
Booting a RAC
When you change parameter values use the
Boot
 or
Reset
 commands to
apply the new RAC configurations.
You can boot one or more active RACs. You can choose to boot RACs
immediately, set a time in the future for the boot to take place, and send
an explanatory message to all users. Annex Manager changes values for
the
Pref Load Addr
 and
Pref Dump Addr
parameters before the boot takes place.
The
Boot
command terminates all active connections to a RAC. You
cannot return to the main window once you display the
Boot
 window.
