Managing Remote Access Concentrators Using Annex Manager
Chapter 6    Viewing and Changing SNMP Information
6-2
Changing SNMP Information
This section describes how to change SNMP information for one or more
RACs.
Annex Manager saves the values you change using
SNMP
Information
for an active session only. When you exit Annex
Manager, the original
Timeout, Retries
, and
Community String
 values
are reinstated.
SNMP Information
 uses these text fields:
Timeout
specifies the length of time in seconds that Annex
Manager waits for a response. You can enter a number of
seconds here. If you leave this field blank,
SNMP Information
uses the Annex Manager five-second default.
Retries
controls the number of times that Annex Manager tries
to reach a RAC or other device on the network. You can enter a
number here. If you leave this field blank, the command uses
the Annex Manager default of 0 (zero) retries.
Community String
specifies the SNMP password Annex Manager
uses to communicate with RACs. You can enter a new string
here. If you do not complete this field, Annex Manager uses
public
, which is the default community string.
The initial
SNMP Information
window does not include values for
these fields.
To change RAC values:
1.
If you want to update only RAC defaults, skip this step.
2.
In the
Main
window, click the Option menu and choose
SNMP
Information
.
The
SNMP Information
 window appears (Figure 3-1).
3.
Enter new values for
Timeout
,
Retries
 or
Community String
.
4.
Select
Update Selected Annex(es) on Apply
 to update RACs you
highlighted on a list, or
Update Default Values on Apply
to update
RAC defaults, or both.
