Enabling or Disabling OAM Alarm Notification
OAM alarm notification tells the IP protocol that the PVC has received an OAM
alarm and that the service record is down. By default, OAM alarm notification is
disabled; that is, OAM alarms are ignored and no message is sent to the
upper-layer protocol. You can enable and disable OAM alarm notification at any
time.
To enable OAM alarm notification for a PVC, navigate to the PVC prompt (for
example,
 box; atm/11/1; pvc-service/boston; pvc/11/1/0/32
 or
box; atm/11/1;
pvc-service/boston; pvc-group/boston/group1; pvc/11/1/0/32
) and enter:
oam-notification enabled
For example, the following command enables OAM alarm notification on
PVC 11/1/0/32:
pvc/11/1/0/32#
 oam-notification enabled
pvc/11/1/0/32#
To disable OAM alarm notification for a PVC, navigate to the PVC prompt and
enter:
oam-notification disabled
For example, the following command disables OAM alarm notification on
PVC 11/1/0/32:
pvc/11/1/0/32#
 oam-notification disabled
pvc/11/1/0/32#
Configuring Loopback Detection and Testing
You can use fractional loopback to isolate problems with FT1 connections.
Fractional loopback is the transmission of ANSI-standard 127-octet loop code
through a fractional T1 (FT1) link to a device that returns the code to the sender.
The Versalar 15000 detects and generates FT1 loopback codes as specified in
ANSI T1.403 Annex B.
Note:
You can perform loopback testing on a T3 interface, T1 channel, FT1
interface, or a logical line.
