Important Notes
Concerning LGC-2000 Power Supply
The following notes pertain to LGC-2000 GPS module installations
when the GPS module is connected
directly to your unit with the pro-
vided 25-foot Y-adapter extension cable.
The LGC-2000 GPS module is a NMEA 2000 device. The Y-adapter ex-
tension cable (with the 60-ohm terminator) functions as a dedicated
NMEA 2000 network between the unit and the GPS module.
The NMEA 2000 buss (the Y-adapter cable) is
not powered by the unit's
power supply cable.
In order for the LGC-2000 to function in this
type of installation, you must connect the NMEA 2000 power ca-
ble to a fused (3 amp) 12-volt power supply or battery. (Both the
unit's power supply cable and the NMEA 2000 power cable are often
attached to the same power source.)
If the NMEA 2000 power cable is not connected to power, the NMEA
2000 network created by the Y-adapter will be unpowered. The GPS
module won't work, even if the Y-adapter cable is connected to your
unit. When the unit is turned on, it will display a "GPS Module Not Re-
sponding" message.
The GPS module can also be connected to an existing NMEA 2000 buss
already installed in your boat. Complete LGC-2000 installation instruc-
tions and illustrations can be found in Section 2 of your unit's manual
and the LGC-2000 GPS Module instruction sheet, part 988-0147-981.
(Some manuals may list an incorrect part number for the GPS module
instruction sheet.)
