Advanced Configuration – Quick Reference
This section is a quick reference list of the additional configuration steps that can
be performed either during the execution of the Setup Wizard or anytime after to
improve system performance. Although not required, the advanced features may
be used to assist with managing the units or trouble shooting voice issues.

1. Identify the port by entering a Description for the specific port (typically the
user’s name).
Path: Remote->Configuration->Port->Port_1 (and Port_2)
2. Setup a Connect password to provide a secure connection restricting
unauthorized access to the Remote to the PBXgateway.

3. Set Auto-connect to “enabled” for the sets to automatically connect to the
PBXgateway. If the link to the PBXgateway is lost for any reason the sets will
attempt to automatically reconnect.

4. Enable Active Call Monitoring (Nortel Norstar PBX only) to monitor another
station’s activity (on another call, for example).

5. Configure Line Signaling (Nortel Norstar PBX only) – Used to help eliminate
clicking noise in the audio path on certain installation environments.

6. Provide a system name making it easier to identify the unit when
administering multiple Remotes.

7. Set the Time and Date to provide accurate time and date stamps for trouble
shooting and system maintenance

8. Set an Administrator’s password to restrict access to the Remote’s
Management Console (MC)

reset the unit’s password. Individual ports are not affected.
9. The Administrator assigns the IP Address, Subnet Mask and the Gateway
Address for each Static Route (if required).
