WebBlocker
An optional WatchGuard software module that blocks users 
behind the Firebox from accessing undesirable Web sites based on 
content type, time of day, and/or specific URL.
WINS (Windows Internet Name Service)
WINS provides name resolution for clients running Windows NT 
and earlier versions of Microsoft operating systems. With name 
resolution, users access servers by name rather than needing to 
use an IP address.
wizard
A tool that guides a user through a complex task by asking 
questions and then performing the task based on responses.
World Wide Web (WWW)
The collection of available information on the Internet viewable 
using a Web browser.
World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
An international industry consortium founded in 1994 to develop 
common protocols for the evolution of the World Wide Web.
worm
A program that seeks access into other computers. After a worm 
penetrates another computer, it continues seeking access to other 
areas. Worms often steal or vandalize computer data. Many 
viruses are actually worms that use email or database systems to 
propagate themselves to other victims.
XOR
Exclusive-or operation; a mathematical way to represent 
differences.
X.509v3
An ITU-T digital certificate that is an internationally recognized 
electronic document used to prove identity and public key 
ownership over a communication network. It contains the issuer’s 
name, the user’s identifying information, and the issuer’s digital 
signature, as well as other possible extensions in version 3.
