9-14  Reservationless meetings
Cisco MeetingPlace Audio Server System Manager’s Guide
February 27, 2004
Starting and ending reservationless meetings
Profile users can start a reservationless meeting through their touch-tone
phone by calling the server and entering their profile number as the
meeting ID. Their existing profile password confirms their identity and starts
the reservationless meeting.
The meeting organizer is responsible for forwarding this meeting ID to all
invited participants.
Use the following general steps to start and attend a reservationless meeting:
1.
Participants attend a reservationless meeting in any of the following ways:
Direct dial the server through their touch-tone phone
Have a participant outdial to them from within the meeting
Have MeetingPlace outdial to them from the MeetingPlace Web
meeting details page
2.
Invited participants enter the scheduler’s profile number as the
meeting ID.
3.
When participants enter, the system determines if the meeting has started.
If the meeting has started, the participants may join the meeting.
If the meeting has not started, participants are placed in a waiting room
until the organizer arrives and starts the meeting. People in the waiting
room cannot talk with each other.
4.
After the organizer starts the meeting, participants in the waiting room are
moved onto the main floor of the meeting.
If the organizer is late or absent, any user with a profile on the system may
activate the meeting by entering their profile number and password, and
then bringing the meeting to order.

Through MeetingPlace Web, you can start a reservationless meeting by
clicking the
Immediate Meeting
button without entering a vanity ID in the
Meeting ID field.
By default, starting a reservationless meeting is not restricted to the
meeting organizer. All profile users may start the reservationless meetings
they attend. Starting reservationless meetings by profile users is a system-
wide setting that system managers can disable. For more information, see
the MeetingPlace Audio Server 5.2 Release Note.
Starting reservationless meetings
Users can start a reservationless meeting through MeetingTime or by dialing
into MeetingPlace. The following sections describe these methods.
