The new high definition Digital SLRs and Video Cameras have driven the
need for high performance, removable media beyond what the current CF
and SD card interfaces can support. To answer this need, the new CFast
standard has been created and promises to gain broad acceptance.
Governed by the CFA, the new CFast standard incorporates two successful
standards into one portable device. It’s the familiar SATA interface packaged
in the standard Compact Flash (CF) card form factor. By incorporating a
SATA interface, the CFast standard delivers true SSD performance, up to
375MB/s;That’s a 4x improvement over the fastest 600x CF card. No
stranger to the digital camera market, the CF card, provides a drop in
solution with a known form factor for which the doors,
draws and alignment trays are already established and tested.
