About the Voice Service Advertisement Framework Feature
Providing timely and reliable voice services play a prominent role in growing IP telephony deployments.
As the network and related services grow, the complexity of device integration—where existing devices
must be updated and capable of learning and utilizing new telephony services—becomes a significant
challenge for network administrators.

The Voice Services Advertisement Framework (Voice SAF) feature is a mechanism by which various
Cisco Unified Communications devices can dynamically learn and adapt to changes in a network
topology, allowing these devices to discover the existence, location, and configuration of networked
resources within networks.

As networks grow, the services offered on these networks also grow. Voice SAF provides timely and
reliable awareness of these additional services by leveraging the dynamic properties of routing protocols
and providing a dynamic, plug-and-play environment for services within a network. In the most simple
terms, Voice SAF enables applications to advertise and discover services.
