All communications to the Executive occur over the virtual IP address, which is
configured on both the Production and DR Executives. As shown in Figure 3,
the database resides on a SAN/NAS or otherwise mirrored database that is
accessible by both the Production and DR Executives. The DR Executive
remains offline during normal operations. When the Production Executive fails,
the DR Executive is brought online, and all IPAM services are started. The DR
Executive takes over the virtual IP address previously used by the Production
Executive. All deployed agents will continue to point to the same, virtual, IP
configured on both the Production and DR Executives. As shown in Figure 3,
the database resides on a SAN/NAS or otherwise mirrored database that is
accessible by both the Production and DR Executives. The DR Executive
remains offline during normal operations. When the Production Executive fails,
the DR Executive is brought online, and all IPAM services are started. The DR
Executive takes over the virtual IP address previously used by the Production
Executive. All deployed agents will continue to point to the same, virtual, IP
address as before so no agent-side changes are required.
