Adjusts the type of signal output from the DIGITAL
AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) t minal.
Changing the default “Audio Output Setting” may be
needed 

only if you are connecting an external decoder

or you want to have a better effect on Q SURROUND
of this unit.
If so, set up according to the type of connected
equipment. If not, do not change its default setting.

If the AV amplifier is not equipped with a
DOLBY DIGITAL decoder, do not select
“DOLBY DIGITAL” in the “Audio Output Setting”
when connecting the AV amplifier  with an
optical connecting cord.
Merely attempting to play a DVD may cause a high
level of noise which could be harmful to your ears
and damage the speakers. In such a case, be sure
to select “Downmix PCM”.

Set the digital output to be output from the optical digital
audio output connector of the DVD player.
The default setting is “DOLBY DIGITAL”.

“Downmix PCM”
Select this option if the unit is connected via a
fiber optical cable to a digital amplifier without a
built-in Dolby Digital decoder.
Selecting this option, however, downmixes the
signal output from the OUTPUT R-AUDIO-L jacks
to a conventional two channel (left and right)

stereo signal if no surround effect is set on the
signal (e.g. Dolby Surround Mode is set to “OFF”).

“DOLBY DIGITAL”
Select this option if the unit is connected to a
Dolby Digital decoder, or to an amplifier with a
built-in Dolby Digital decoder, with a digital fiber
optical cable. Selecting this option does not affect
the signal output from the OUTPUT R-AUDIO-L
jacks.

“English”, “French”, “Spanish”:
Shows the Disc menu in the selected language.
“Others”:
Language code setting screen appears. The
procedure for setting the language code is the
same as for “Audio Language” setting. Refer to
step 4 of “Audio Language” setting.

the disc’s default language will be used.
