To disable the display of this additional time, confirm the menu entry selection by pressing the Jog Dial. Move the 
Jog Dial to have the symbol without the check mark and confirm your changes by pressing the Jog Dial again. 
You will return to the main menu. 
Reformatting the memory card 
You can erase any data on the memory card by reformatting the memory card. 
This is the menu entry for reformatting: 
 
Confirm the menu entry selection by pressing the Jog Dial. The following screen is displayed: 
 
To reconfirm and start the reformatting process, press the DELETE button for at least two seconds. This will 
erase all data on the memory card permanently. 
Note: You can cancel the reformatting process by moving the Jog Dial or pressing the SKIP/BACK, STOP/PLAY 
or SKIP/FWD button. 
Note: When reformatting a memory card of the type SD, make sure the card is not write-protected. A write-
protected SD card is indicated with this symbol on the display:   
Dictation-specific menu entries 
The following menu entries are for making settings on the Philips 9750 which are specific for using the device as 
a digital dictation system. 
•  User-defined labels 
•  Assigning Keywords 
•  Setting the recording format 
•  Switching between Insert mode and Overwrite mode 
•  Setting the microphone sensitivity 
•  Voice-activated recording 
User-defined labels 
This menu entry is only available if the corresponding option has been enabled in SpeechExec Dictate and the 
setting was transferred to the Philips 9750. If enabled, it is displayed as the first entry when you access the menu. 
 
The Philips 9750 stores the last user-defined label(s) you entered. These will be displayed when you access the 
menu entry. You can either accept the existing labels or enter new labels. For more information, refer to the 
Entering user-defined labels section in this manual. For more information on SpeechExec Dictate, refer to the 
Online Help delivered with the program.
