NAMING MEMORY CHANNELS
You can name memory channels using up to 6
alphanumeric characters. When you recall a named
memory channel, its name appears on the display
instead of the stored frequency. Names can be
callsigns, repeater names, cities, names of people, etc.

You can also name the Program Scan and Priority channels , but
you cannot name the Call channel.

Recall the desired memory channel.

Press [F], [4] to enter Memory Naming mode.
• The first digit blinks.
• If you recall a memory channel that has a name stored,
the last digit blinks.

Turn the Tuning control to select the first digit.
• You can select “0” to “9”, “A” to “Z”, “–”, “/
”, or a space.

Press [MR].
• The second digit blinks.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 to enter up to 6 digits.
• After selecting the 6th digit, you need not press [MR].
• To erase and re-enter the preceding digits, press [VFO]
as many times as required.

Press [F] to complete the setting.

Names can be assigned only to memory channels in which you have
stored frequencies and related data.

After storing memory names, you can switch the display
between memory names and frequencies. You may
sometimes want to confirm frequencies stored in named
memory channels.
