a WLED (white light emitting diode - also called white LED) backlit
panel instead of a CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) panel
found in prior models. You may be familiar with these terms, but
what makes a WLED panel different from a CCFL panel?
One of the biggest differences is that a WLED backlit panel does
not contain mercury. In contrast, a CCFL panel houses a small
amount of the element, so when the time comes to replace your
monitor, you can feel good about your recycling efforts.
Additionally, WLEDs are solid state components, which can make
them more resistant to damage caused by external shock vs. the
glass tubes within CCFL monitors. This may be useful in mobile
