Troubleshooting
Problem
Cause/Solution
A
The camera is on
but does not
respond.
• Wait for recording to end.
• If the problem persists, turn the camera off.
If the camera does not turn off, press the reset button
(
A1) with a sharp-pointed object.
Note that although any data currently being recorded will
be lost, data that have already been recorded will not be
affected by removing or disconnecting the power source.
The camera turns
off without
warning.
• The camera automatically turns off to save power (auto off
function).
• The camera and battery may not work properly at low
temperatures.
• The inside of the camera has become hot. Leave the
camera off until the inside of the camera has cooled, and
then try turning it on again.
The monitor is
blank.
• The camera is connected to a computer.
• Time-lapse movie shooting is in progress.
The camera
becomes hot.
The camera may become hot when used for an extended
period of time such as to shoot movies, or when used in a hot
environment; this is not a malfunction.
Images are
blurred or out of
focus.
• If Movie VR is set to On when recording movies, change
it to On (hybrid).
• Vibration reduction or autofocus may not work properly,
due to unexpected vibration from wind or the
surroundings, even when the camera is stabilized using a
tripod, etc.
• Vibration reduction or autofocus may not work properly if
the direction of the camera is significantly changed during
panning shots, etc.
Images of moving
subjects or
images captured
while moving are
skewed or
partially distorted.
This is the rolling shutter effect that may occur when a CMOS
electronic shutter is used for shooting. Shooting using 4:3
(2M)
16:9 (2M), or 1:1 (2M) will reduce the effect.
