When  y ou p ress  the 

 button  on the  window shown  in Fig.  4-31,  a 

green lin e automatically  app ears on the section at the abscissa.

When  y ou  come  across  objects  of  p articular  interest  such  as  manholes  o r  

macroscop ic  discontinuities,  y ou  can  p ress  the 

  button  shown  in 

window Fig. 4-31; this will p roduce a red  line  at the abscissa.

If  y ou  move  the trolley  too  quickly ,  an  alarm  sounds to warn y ou that y ou 
are  loosin g  data;  if  this  p roblem  continues,  it  is  best to  stop   the scan  with 

the 

  button  shown  in  Fig.  4-31  and  avo id  savin g  the  d ata 

by  p ressing the 

NO button in the window shown in Fig. 4-32. 

No  modifications  need  to  be  mad e  before  rep eatin g  the  scan  ap art  from 
returning the trolley  back to the starting p osition.
