To enter a symbol in text editing mode:

  to display the symbol list.

Messaging

Select Menu > Messaging > Write message.

Compose a message.

  (Options) and select Send to, or press

Select Enter recipient to manually enter the phone numbers of a 
recipient, or select Add from Phonebook to select a contact from 
the phonebook.
