Making and Answering Calls 
Making Calls 
1.  Make sure your phone is on. 
2.  Enter a phone number. (If you make a mistake while dialing, press BACK to erase one digit 
at a time. Press and hold BACK to erase the entire number.) 
3.  Press TALK. (To make a call when you are roaming and Call Guard is enabled, press 
Options (right softkey) > Roam Call or Roam:Speaker On.) When you’re finished, press 
END/ to end the call. 
 
Dialing Options 
Dialing options are displayed when you press Options (right softkey) after entering numbers in 
the standby mode. 
To select an option, select it and press MENU/OK. 
 
• 
Abbrev. Dial to dial the phone number in your Contacts that ends with the four digits you 
enter. (See “Using Abbreviated Dialing” on page 14.) 
• 
Call to dial the phone number. (If you are roaming and have the Call Guard feature 
activated, you need take extra step. See page 31 for setting Call Guard.) 
• 
Call:Speaker On to dial the phone number in speakerphone mode.(If you are roaming and 
have the Call Guard feature activated, you need take extra step. See page 31 for setting 
Call Guard.) 
• 
Send Message to send a text message, an SMS Voice message, or Picture Mail. 
• 
Save Phone# to save the phone number in your Contacts Directory. (See “Saving a Phone 
Number” on page 13.) 
• 
Find to display Contacts entries that end with the digits you enter. (See “Finding a Phone 
Number” on page 13.) 
• 
P Hard Pause to insert a hard pause. (See “Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers With 
Pauses” on page 13.) 
• 
T 2-Sec. Pause to insert a 2-second pause. (See “Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers 
With Pauses” on page 13.) 
• 
Hyphen to insert a hyphen manually where you like, however they are mainly for show. 
(See “Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers With Pauses” on page 13.) 
Tip: To speed dial a phone number from the standby mode, press and hold appropriate 
speed dial key locations 2-9. See page 36 for setting.   
This option appears when you press after entering 4-digit and press MENU/OK. 
 
 
Answering Calls 
1. Make sure your phone is on. If your phone is off, incoming calls go to voicemail. 
2. When your phone rings, press TALK or SPEAKER. 
3. To disconnect the call, press END/. 
 
Depending on your settings, your PCS Phone notifies you of incoming calls in the following 
ways:
