RTC battery – models without WWAN
NOTE:
RTC battery location varies on model with and without WWAN modules.
WWAN models: you must remove the system board to replace the RTC battery.
Non-WWAN models: you must remove only the service cover to replace the RTC battery.

Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and

Remove the RTC battery:
1.
Position the computer upside-down.
2.
Use a thin screwdriver or similar tool to pry the battery out of the socket (1).

Remove the battery from the socket (2).
Reverse this procedure to install the RTC battery.
