Positioning
The PRIMERGY / PRIMEPOWER
S2
 console switches repre-
sent a solution positioned between simple mechanical and
high-end digital console switches for rack integration. With the
S2 series, up to 16 servers can be operated with up to two
consoles in non-blocking mode, locally or in a remote connec-
tion (via IP, 10/100 Mbit/s), depending on switch model. In
blocking mode, with cascaded switches, up to 256 servers
can even be operated. Blade servers from Fujitsu Siemens
are supported in the same way.
The S2 console switches are independent of the server plat-
form and operating system. Both PS/2 and USB interfaces
from the servers are accepted, as are SUN IO connections,
with the result that mixed configurations with PRIMERGY and
PRIMEPOWER servers in one rack can be maintained from
one console.
The S2 console switches are primarily designed for rack inte-
gration. They round off the 19” technology portfolio and are
indispensable for cluster configurations and server farms. The
advantages – cost reductions and avoidance of multiple moni-
tors and keyboards – are obvious.
S2 console switches and other Fujitsu Siemens console
switches can be combined.
