Fanless Design
All hard drives generate some heat as a result of normal
operation. Heat generation can be an issue with some hard
drives, which is why they often have big, noisy fans. The
Ondago was engineered to be more efficient and to gener-
ate so little heat that it does not need a fan, allowing us to
make the drive as compact and lightweight––and quiet––as
possible.

Instant-On Operation
In order to save weight and keep the Drive as compact as possible,
your Ondago Drive does not have a power switch. The Drive will
power up as soon as it senses sufficient current, either via a bus
connection or via AC power.

Silicone Rubber Sleeve
Ondago’s silicone rubber sleeve provides a measure of shock and
water resistance, making the Drive well-suited to the rigors of life
on the road. While the sleeve material itself is water resistant, the
sleeve does not completely encase the drive and therefore it is not
intended to make the Ondago Drive suitable for use in damp or
wet environments. Hard drives contain very sensitive electronics
and should never be exposed to rain or moisture. Beneath the sili-
cone rubber sleeve, the Drive is fully enclosed in an autonomous
aluminum alloy case.

Mac & PC Ready
Your AcomData Ondago Drive is ready to use on either a
Mac or a PC right out of the box––no formatting is required.
The Drive was formatted at the factory with the FAT32 file
system, which makes the Drive compatible with all support-
ed operating systems. That said, you may want to consider
re-formatting the Drive using one of the other file systems
that may be available with your operating system. For more
information and formatting instructions, see “Re-Formatting
the Drive.”

Hot-Pluggable
You can connect or disconnect the Ondago while your
computer is running. This makes portability much easier
and saves you the time and hassle of shutting down and
restarting your computer. Let’s say you use your Drive solely
for data backups––so the Drive only needs to run a few
minutes every day––but your computer is on all day. If the
Drive was not hot-pluggable, you would either have to shut
down your computer every time you wanted to connect or
disconnect the Drive, or you would have to leave the Drive
running all day unnecessarily. Always dismount the Drive
before disconnecting the Drive. See “How to Safely Dismount &
Disconnect the Drive” for details.
