Heartland Technology Solutions turns to HP for 
solution to customers’ backup challenges 
Rapidly growing Heartland Technology Solutions 
(HTS), an HP Gold partner, built its reputation by 
providing strategic and innovative answers to their 
clients’ business technology challenges. Increasingly, 
with growing numbers of users and greater volumes of 
business-critical information, backup and data 
protection topped the list of concerns among HTS 
clients. “The most critical thing I worry about for our 
clients is data protection,” said Arlin Sorensen, 
CEO/Partner of Heartland Technology Solutions. “Until 
now, the choices were very limited in scope, 
dependability and affordability.” 

Sorensen seized the opportunity to beta test the new 
HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System, which 
simplifies disk-to-disk-to-tape backup, providing 
consolidated data protection for up to six servers. “The

One device for protecting multiple servers yields smiles 
A typical HTS client has multiple servers needing data 
protection, each requiring separate backup routines 
followed by transfer to tapes or cartridges for off-site 
security – a labor-intensive, multi-tiered approach that 
fails to answer the business need for simple, fast, 
secure backup. “Many of our clients need better 
backup and recovery speed,” says Roger Crawford, 
Senior Engineer for HTS. “There is more data to back 
up, but the backup window continues to shrink, and 
most businesses don’t want to give up having that final 
tape copy.”
