T1 / PRI INTERFACE 
The system can be equipped with a T1 card to provide up to 24 T1 Robbed Bit Signaling (RBS) channels or 
23 Primary Rate ISDN (PRI) channels. The programming and set up options available on the T1 / PRI 
interface are described below. 
T1 (RBS) OR PRI (ISDN) 
When a T1 card is installed it is automatically set as a T1 interface with 24 E&M wink start channels. It can 
be changed to PRI ISDN. 
•  From the programming extension, press the PROGRAM key. 
•  Press the Scroll Down key ( ) until “System Programming” is displayed. 
•  Select “System Programming”. 
•  Enter the System Programming Password and select “Lines”. 
•  Press the Scroll Down key ( ) until “T1 (RBS) or PRI (ISDN)” is displayed.  
•  Select the required option. 
•  The default is that T1 (RBS) is set. A solid diamond indicates the option selected. 
T1 (RBS) Channel programming 
If T1 (RBS) is selected the default settings are as follows: - 
Framing is set as D4 Superframe. 
Coding is set as AMI. 
Line Build-Out is set at -7.5dB. 
The Line Type is E&M with no Service Types and Wink Start. 
The received digits is set at 2. 
The Line gain is set at -3dB. 
Dialing is set at DTMF. 
 
Each of these settings can be changed as required. 
 
Programming the type of Framing on the T1 
There are two different types of Framing provided by the carrier that are programmable on the T1 interface. 
They are D4 Superframe or Extended Superframe.  
•  From the programming extension, press the PROGRAM key. 
•  Press the Scroll Down key ( ) until “System Programming” is displayed. 
•  Select “System Programming”. 
•  Enter the System Programming Password and select “Lines”. 
•  Press the Scroll Down key ( ) until “ T1 (RBS) or PRI (ISDN)” is displayed.  
•  Select T1 (RBS) 
•  Select “Framing”. 
•  Two options are presented “D4 Superframe” or “Extended Superframe”. 
•  Select the required option. 
•  The default setting is D 4 Superframe. A solid diamond indicates the option selected. 
 
Programming the type of Coding on the T1 
There are two different types of coding programmable on the T1 interface. They are either AMI or B8ZS.  
•  From the programming extension, press the PROGRAM key. 
•  Press the Scroll Down key ( ) until “System Programming” is displayed. 
•  Select “System Programming”. 
•  Enter the System Programming Password and select “Lines”. 
•  Press the Scroll Down key ( ) until “T1 (RBS) or PRI (ISDN)” is displayed.
