Electric Shock Protector

™

/ALCI

(appliance leakage current interrupter) safety device specifically
engineered for safety. It is for household use and may be plugged into a
standard AC electrical outlet (ordinary household current).
HOW ESP

The ESP

®

/ALCI safety device in this unit is built into the plug. This device

will make it inoperable under some abnormal conditions, such as
accidental immersion in water. If the appliance is immersed in water, do
not attempt to reset the ESP

/ALCI safety device. Please take the unit to

the nearest service facility for examination.
The ESP

®

/ALCI safety device is equipped with a test button so that its

operation can be checked.
TO USE (See Fig. A):
1. Press the Reset button on the ESP

®

/ALCI safety device.

2. Plug your hair dryer into an AC outlet.
3. Then press the Test button. The Reset button will pop out. This verifies

the safety device is operating properly. If the Reset button does not
pop out, do not use the unit. Return it immediately for service.

4. Press the Reset button to reactivate the ESP

®

/ALCI safety device. Your

hair dryer is ready for use.

Repeat this procedure every time you use the hair dryer to confirm that
the safety device is operational.
SPECIAL ATTENTION
• If the unit detects an electrical shock hazard, it will immediately shut

off. To restore power, press the Reset button on the ESP

®

/ALCI safety

device to reactivate the circuit.

• This appliance is designed with a protective coating around the

heating coils. When operating the first few times, you may notice
momentary smoking when turning unit Off. This represents no danger
to the user and does not indicate a defect in the unit. The smoke
should dissipate within a short time.

• Never block the air intake grille, as this will cause the unit to overheat.

Should this happen, a built-in safety system will operate, and the unit
will shut off automatically. Turn the unit Off and clear any obstruction
from the air intake grille. Wait 10 minutes before operating the
appliance again. If the unit fails to operate, it may indicate that the
appliance has sustained extensive damage. Do not try to repair it. Take
it to an electrical facility or return it to the manufacturer. See warranty
for instructions.

• Never touch heating section as it may be hot and can burn you.
• To avoid possible scalp or hair burns, use very hot and fast setting only

when hair is wet. Reduce to lower heat as hair dries.

• Do not keep appliance directed at one place; keep it in constant

motion. This is especially important if drying a wig, which could be
damaged by heat.

• For maximum airflow, hold dryer not closer to the head than six inches.
• To extend the life of the dryer, it is recommended to switch it to the

YOUR DRYER:
This dryer features two speeds and three temperature settings. 
• High heat/speed for most styling/setting procedures and hair types. 
• Low heat/speed for "finishing" a hairstyle or for drying and styling

permed, color-treated or fragile hair. 

FOR BEST RESULTS:
HOT SETTING: For initial hair drying and for thick, hard-to-control hair.
WARM SETTING: For most hair styling/setting procedures and 
hair types.
COOL SETTING: For finishing hairstyle, or for styling fragile, damaged,
over-processed or permed hair.
NOTE: To add bulk to hair and body to the style, brush hair and blow-dry 
it partly against its natural growth pattern.
COOL SHOT™ BUTTON: Use this feature to set the style in place. Firmly
press the button until the airflow becomes cool. Release the button and
the dryer automatically resumes the temperature and speed previously
chosen.
AIR CONCENTRATOR: The air concentrator attaches easily onto the air
chamber of the dryer. Air concentrator allows the airflow to be directed on
a small section of hair at a time when hair is styled and shaped with a vent
brush or comb. It also can be used to build body and fullness into fine, thin
hair by directing the airflow against the natural growth pattern of the hair.
Attachment will be hot during use. Allow it to cool before handling.

This appliance is permanently lubricated and will not require any
additional lubrication. It contains no user serviceable parts.
1. Unplug dryer and let it cool completely before cleaning.
2. Wipe the surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth. DO NOT LET WATER

OR ANY OTHER LIQUID GET INTO THE APPLIANCE.

3. Clean intake grille with a small brush to remove lint or hair buildup.
TO DETACH REMOVABLE AIR INTAKE GRILLE: Place fingers on the sides 
of the removable air intake grille, apply pressure and twist clockwise until
grille unsnaps.
CLEANING OF FILTER: Filter inside intake grille is removable/reusable and
may be cleansed using water and a mild detergent. After cleansing, let the
filter dry then replace filter back inside of the intake grille.
TO ATTACH REMOVABLE AIR INTAKE GRILLE: Place fingers on the sides of
the removable air intake grille. Pleace tabs located on the inside rim of the
intake grille about 1/4" above alignment lines. Apply slight pressure
twisting counterclockwise until lines align and grille snaps into place.
4. Store dryer in a clean, dry place with cord loosely coiled. Do not put any

stress on cord where it enters the handle, as it could cause cord to fray
and possibly break. Do not hang unit by the power cord; use the
hanging ring.

Before returning unit for service: Clean air intake grille with a small brush
or a vacuum cleaner brush attachment. Then try to operate unit again.

PARA USAR (Consulte la Figura A):
1. Oprima el botón de reinicio (Reset) del dispositivo de seguridad

ESP

®

/ALCI.

2. Enchufe el secador a una toma de corriente alterna.
3. Oprima el botón de prueba (Test) del enchufe del secador. Asegúrese

que el botón de reinicio salte hacia afuera para verificar que esté
funcionando apropiadamente. Si el botón de reinicio no salta hacia
afuera, por favor no use la unidad. Devuélvala de inmediato para que
la revisen.

4. Oprima el botón de reinicio para reactivar el dispositivo de seguridad

ESP

®

/ALCI y poder usar el secador nuevamente.

Siempre que use el secador, oprima el botón de reinicio del dispositivo de
seguridad para reactivarlo y asegurarse que está funcionando
apropiadamente.
CUIDADO ESPECIAL
• Esta unidad se apagará de inmediato si llegase a detectar cualquier

peligro de choque eléctrico. Oprima el botón de reinicio del dispositivo
de seguridad ESP

®

/ALCI para reactivar el circuito.

• La unidad ha sido diseñada con una capa de recubrimiento que protege

las resistencias de calor. Cuando opere el secador las primeras veces,
usted podría detectar la emisión de humo al APAGAR la unidad. Esto
no representa ningún peligro al usuario, como tampoco indica
desperfecto en la unidad. El humo se debería disipar en poco tiempo.

• A fin de evitar que el secador se caliente demasiado, no obstruya las

entradas de aire. En dado caso, un sistema de seguridad incorporado
se activará, y la unidad se apagará automáticamente. Apague el
interruptor y limpie toda obstrucción de la rejilla en la entrada de aire.
Espere 10 minutos antes de encender el secador nuevamente. Si el
secador no funciona, es posible que ha sostenido daño más serio. No
trate de reparar el secador en casa. Acuda a un centro de servicio para
electrodomésticos o devuélvalo al fabricante. Consulte las
instrucciones de la garantía.

• A fin de evitar quemaduras, no toque el sistema de calentamiento del

secador.

• Para evitar posibles quemaduras al cuero cabelludo o al cabello, use la

posición y la velocidad más caliente sólo cuando el cabello esté
mojado. Reduzca la temperatura a medida que el cabello se vaya
secando.

• No dirija el calor a una sola sección del cabello; mantenga el secador

en movimiento constante. Esto es muy importante especialmente al
secar pelucas que pueden dañarse con el calor.

• Para lograr máximo flujo de aire, sujete el secador a una distancia no

menor de seis pulgadas de la cabeza.

• Desenrolle el cable de vez en cuando para evitar que se enrede.
PARA MEJORES RESULTADOS:
POSICION CALIENTE: Para el secado inicial y para cabellos gruesos,
difíciles de controlar.
POSICION TIBIA: Para el procedimiento de la mayoría de peinados y tipos
de cabellos.
POSICION FRIA: Para el acabado del peinado, o para cabellos frágiles,
dañados, teñidos o con permanente.
NOTA: Para añadirle volumen al cabello y cuerpo al peinado, siempre
cepille o seque parte del cabello contra la raíz.
COMO USAR EL BOTON DE AIRE FRIO: Este dispositivo se utiliza para fijar
el peinado. Presione el botón con firmeza hasta lograr un flujo de aire frío.
Suelte el botón y el secador continuará secando a la velocidad y
temperatura seleccionada anteriormente.
CONCENTRADOR DE AIRE: Fácilmente se adapta a la cámara de aire del
secador y le permite dirigir el flujo de aire a una pequeña sección del
cabello, al mismo tiempo que moldea y le da forma a su cabello con un
cepillo o peine. También puede usarse para darle cuerpo y volumen a un
cabello fino y delgado dirigiendo el flujo de aire contra la raíz del cabello.
Este accesorio permanece caliente cuando está en uso. Permita que se
enfríe antes de tocarlo.

Este aparato trae lubricante permanente de fábrica y no requiere
lubricación adicional a lo largo de su vida útil. No contiene partes de
utilidad para el consumidor.
1. Desconecte el secador y permita que se enfríe por complete antes de

limpiarlo.

1. Utilice un paño suave humedecido para limpiar la superficie de la

unidad. NO PERMITA LA PENETRACION DE AGUA NI DE NINGUN
OTRO LIQUIDO ADENTRO DEL SECADOR.

1. Limpie la rejilla de admisión de aire con una escobilla pequeña para

remover cualquier acumulación de cabello o pelusa. 

PARA SACAR LA REJILLA REMOVIBLE DE ADMISION DE AIRE: Coloque
los dedos en los lados de la rejilla, aplique presión y dele vuelta hacia la
derecha hasta que la parrilla se desenganche.
PARA LIMPIAR EL FILTRO: El filtro que está dentro de la rejilla de
admisión de aire es removible y reusable y puede ser limpiado usando
agua y un detergente suave. Después de limpiarlo deje que el filtro se
seque, luego vuelva a colocarlo dentro de la rejilla.
PARA COLOCAR LA REJILLA REMOVIBLE DE ADMISION DE AIRE:
Coloque los dedos en los lados de la rejilla removible de admisión de aire.
Coloque las lengüetas ubicadas en los bordes de la rejilla cerca de 1/4"
sobre las líneas de alineamiento. Aplique ligera presión dándole vuelta
hacia la izquierda hasta que las líneas se alineen y la parrilla enganche
en su lugar. 
4. Almacene el secador en un lugar limpio, seco, con el cable enrollado

holgadamente. A fin de evitar que el cable se debilite y se rompa, no
aplique presión excesiva a la unión del cable con la unidad. No
cuelgue el secador por el cable sino que utilice el aro provisto.

Antes de devolver la unidad para cualquier servicio: Por favor, retire la
rejilla removible de admisión de aire que viene sujeta al secador y
límpiela con una escobilla pequeña o use el accesorio de cepillo de la
aspiradora. Luego encienda el secador nuevamente para comprobar si no
está funcionando apropiadamente.
