The company was founded in 1911 by a man named Louis Upton. At that time it was called Upton Machines. Upton was involved in the release of washing machines with electric shafts. In 1929 the company merged with Nineteen Hundred Washers Co. In 1950 the company began to deal with the release of dryers, and changed its name to Whirlpool Co. The principal activity was the production of large household appliances; washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, fridges, hobs, hoods and more. Equipment made by Whirlpool is one of the most purchased in the US market.
