Compact Flash Card Compatibility
There are different grades of CF Cards available from a variety of manufacturers.  Itronix has qualified, and recommends using only the
OEM grade SanDisk CF Cards.  Components used in this grade of CF Card are superior to those found in retail and utility grades.  The
retail and utility grades are used mostly for cameras and other consumer electronic products, excluding computers.  The OEM grade
SanDisk CF cards can be purchased by anyone.  The best method to finding this compact flash would be to look up the nearest distributor
on the internet.  Arrow and Avnet are examples of distributors.  The SanDisk part number is SDCFB-xx-101-yy.  Where xx is the size
desired: 32, 64, or 128MB, and yy refers to grade.  yy must be either blank, 00, or 80.  To locate a distributor, go to the SanDisk website
and look under the Industrial/OEM products tab for compact flash “where to buy”. http://www.sandisk.com.
SOLUTION
CF Cards  purchased from Itronix that are within the problematic date code range (Refer to: Identifying SanDisk CF Cards that need
rework and the first image below) should be returned to Itronix using the RMA process. Itronix customers who have purchased CF Cards
other than the SanDisk OEM grade, are recommended to return them to the retailer they purchased from and purchase the SanDisk OEM
grade from a SanDisk distributor.
Identifying SanDisk CF Cards that need rework
Cards built BEFORE June 2002 do not have the over programming problem and do not need rework.  The first work month that needs
firmware updating is June (Side mark 0206). See below for the side-marking format.  The June side marking is shown.
Identifying SanDisk CF Cards that have been reworked
The SanDisk rework procedure identification number for the firmware upgrade is” 16903”.
16903” is marked on the opposite side of the present date code marking (see below) when upgrade is required.  Not all cards require the
firmware upgrade.  Cards sent in for rework that do NOT require the upgrade are marked with an “S” on the side. The “S” indicates that
SanDisk has screened the card and no upgrade is required. The back label and side marking will remain unchanged.
