h) Mounting the Centre Differential (optional)
When converting, the main pinion can be replaced by a main pinion with integrated differential. This centre differential prevents the tensions occurring in the
drive section of all-wheel driven vehicles, which result from the different turning radius of front and rear axles and the associated different rotational speed of the
axles.
Remove, for a better accessibility, the empty tank by unscrewing both crosshead screws on the lower side of the chassis.
Take off the RC mounting plate.
To that effect, you must remove numerous screws. Notice their position and mounting orientation. Unscrew......
• Two screws each on the casings of the differentials at the front and the
back (supports of the transverse stabilisers)
• The servo steering lever from the throttle/brake servo
• One screw on the servo saver (counter hold the screw on the lower
side of the chassis!) and one screw on the articulated joint of the mid-
dle steering link
• The screw at the spacer bolt chassis/RC mounting plate
• Two screws at the brake supports and the cardan shaft-bearing case
Then remove the disk brake and the attachment:
• Remove two crosshead screws of the brake support on the bottom
side of the supporting plate.
• Remove the spacer bolts between the brake supports and the cardan
shaft bearing case (on the side of the brake support).
• Loosen the brake shoe fastener (one screw).
• Remove the headless screw on the attachment of the front cardan
shaft and remove the attachment.
• Remove the brake support.
Now you can remove the main pinion from the cardan shaft-bearing case
and replace it with a main pinion with differential.
i) Installation of the CVD Drive Shafts (optional)
Unscrew the front wheels, loosen the screw connections of the steering
knuckle pin at the axle leg support and pull the axle legs out of the axle
leg support.
Remove the hexagon driver from the spindle and take the spindle from
the axle leg.
Guide the longer end of the cardan joint through the axle leg support and
put the shaft into the driver on the front axle differential.
Guide the other end of the shaft (the spindle) the axle leg and screw it
back onto the axle leg support. Replace the hexagon driver and screw
the wheel tight.
