will be started as soon as there are no active connections on a dial port. (It has no 
function on a non-dial port.) If no new connections are established before the period 
expires, the port will be disabled until the next call is placed, if a dial-out port, or the 

expires (see next entry), if a dial-in port.

is the length of time a dial-in port will remain disabled after expiration of the Inactivity 
Timer.

is started when the port enters 

 state. If the timer expires before there is a 

response from the other end, the port will enter 

 state.
