An attribute that displays a set of values will contain the union
of all values from the sources (with no duplications).
An attribute that displays as a number range will have its lower
limit set to the minimum of all lower limits from the sources,
and its upper limit set to the maximum of all the upper limits
from the sources.
NOTE: It is possible that the resulting range will include values
that no source actually includes if some of those ranges were
disjoint. For example, a range of 10-20 and a range of 15-25 is
combined to a single range of 10-25.
An attribute that displays as one or more ranges will include all
ranges from the sources. Overlapping ranges will be combined
into a single range so that the result will be a set of disjoint
ranges. For example, a range of 10-20 and a range of 15-25,
30-40 are combined to form 10-25, 30-40.
