Format the file system on the specified device. 
Important:
  Use of the SMC hard drive is not supported in this release. 
Format the file system on the standby SMC. 
Usage
 
Clear all directories and files from the PCMCIA card(s) and/or the Compact Flash and re-establish the file 
system. 
Example 
The following command formats the PCMCIA card located in slot 1 on the SMC:
