4.8 Install the Front Fan Spacers for the Fixed Hard Drive Bay
Install the Front Fan Spacers for systems with a standard fixed hard drive bay cage. The
following instructions do not apply to systems with a hot-swappable hard drive bay cage. Use
four screws to attach the four plastic spacers to the unlabeled side of the Front Fan. Insert
screw (letter B in the following figure) from the inside of the Front Fan to secure the plastic
spacer (letter A in the figure). Hold the screw steady with your thumb while using a hex driver
(letter C in figure) to secure the plastic spacer to the screw.

1. Insert the Front Fan into the hard drive bay cage. Make sure that the Front Fan
cable is positioned at the bottom of the cage. Make sure that the airflow is towards
the server board. This means that the label should face to the inside of the hard
drive bay cage (towards the server board). The plastic spacers should be facing
towards the front grill of the hard drive bay cage.
