● MAP Setup
Two programs consisting of “MAP Setup” and “MAP” are installed when the MAP setup program is run. MAP
setup is a program for setting up an environment for detecting KN-304. Run the MAP setup program first.
Select [Start], [Program], [Map] and finally [MAP Setup] to start up the MAP setup program.
In MAP setup, the protocol to be used by the KN-304 detected when starting MAP and the maximum number of
IP hops are designated. Check [Search for IPX based Printer] when detecting KN-304 using IPX, or check
[Search for IP based Printer] to detect KN-304 using IP.
In the case of using IP for the network protocol, designate the [Max. Hops for IP Search]. Valid settings for [Max.
Hops for IP Search] are from 0 to 15, and the default (initial value) setting is 2. In the case of designating a
value of 0, only the segment belonging to the computer that started up MAP is searched. In the case of setting
a value of 2, all networks are searched that can be accessed by going through up to 2 routers. It should be
noted that as the designated value becomes larger, the amount of traffic encountered becomes correspond-
ingly larger.
