Determining the Communications Port
To set the communications port in the HyperTerminal session, you need to know which communications
port you are using on your computer. Most laptops are connected through COM 1, but PCs can use COM 1
through 3.

Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and from the shortcut menu, select Properties.

Click the Device Manager tab and click Ports (COM & LPT). A list of the available communications
ports appears.
