The mGuard bladepack from Innominate impresses with 

maximum security and performance in a 19-inch format. 

It has never been so easy to reliably protect a dynamical-

ly growing number of computers, machines or any other 

IP connections critical to a company’s operations from 

attack.

Every single mGuard blade security appliance combines 

the powerful mGuard hardware platform with the reliable 

mGuard fi rmware. Based on a hardened embed ded Linux 

from Innominate, this combination integrates four com-

plementary security components: a bi-directional stateful 

inspection fi rewall, a fl exible NAT router, a highly secure 

VPN gateway and, optionally, an industry-compatible 

 protection from malware.

Every mGuard blade slide-in module in the robust metal 

housing represents a dedicated security appliance, which 

can optionally be combined in pairs to form a hot standby 

system. In addition, all mGuard blades are hot swap- 

capable and can be replaced and automatically reconfi -

gured during operation.

The mGuard bladebase consists of a 19-inch standard 

rack (3 RU) that provides space for up to 12 mGuard 

blades. The mGuard blades and bladebase together form 

the mGuard bladepack security center. To guarantee the 

highest level of availability, the mGuard bladebase series 

contains a redundant power supply which, like the 

mGuard blade slide-in modules, is controlled by a moni-

toring unit.

In general, conventional fi rewalls are used to secure en-

tire networks or network segments with a uniform secu-

rity standard. However, systems or machines that are 

critical for a company often require their own level of 

security. Thus, the mGuard blades can be used to assign 

to a company-critical system or network segment its own 

individually-confi  gured security component.

For scalable remote maintenance scenarios, the mGuard 

bladepack can be used as a central VPN gateway or 

 client for up to 3,000 concurrent, IPsec-encrypted VPN 

tunnels. The mGuard bladepack thus functions as a high-

performance teleservice infrastructure for the secure and 

software-independent connection of machines, controls 

or technicians, especially in medium-sized machine and 

plant engineering operations.
