Introduction
The DAC8728 is a 16-bit, octal, low-power, ±15V DAC that operates from independent AV
DD
, AV
SS
, and
DV
DD
supplies. A separate IOV
DD
supply powers the parallel I/O buffers and eliminates the need for a
level-shifting device between the DAC8728 and the external host controller.
As a result of the complexity of the parallel interface, the DAC8728 is not directly compatible with most of
TI’s processor families (that is, it is not compatible with the Modular EVM format). Therefore, this EVM
was designed to support a wide variety of processors. Consequently, access to the parallel interface is
achieved through external logic controlled by the host processor parallel interface.
