To playback an 8 cm disc, use the optional Sony compact disc single adaptor (CSA-8).

This unit can play the following discs:

A compact disc that contains moving pictures.
The picture data uses the MPEG 1 format
(Video CD) or MPEG 2 format (Super VCD),
worldwide standards of digital compression
technology.
Video CDs and Super VCDs also contain
compact audio data. Sounds outside the range
of human hearing are compressed while the
sounds we can hear are not compressed.
Super VCD is recognized as the superior
standard and this format includes many of the
features of DVD-Video.

There are 2 versions of Video CDs.
• Version 1.1:

You can play only moving pictures and
sounds.

You can play hi-resolution still pictures and
enjoy PBC (Playback Control) functions.

This unit conforms to both versions.
