Tips for Avoiding Paper Jams
By carefully selecting print materials and loading them properly, you should
be able to avoid most paper jams. If jams do occur, follow the steps outlined
in
Clearing Jams.  If jams occur frequently, make sure that you are following
these tips to avoid jams.
Q
Follow the procedures in
Loading Paper to load paper properly. Make
sure the adjustable paper guides are positioned correctly.
Q
Do not overload the paper. Never exceed the maximum capacity of 100
sheets of paper in the Automatic Paper Feeder.
Q
Flex, fan, and straighten paper before loading it.
Q
Do not load wrinkled, creased, damp, highly curled, or previously stapled
paper.
Q
Do not mix paper types.
Q
Use only recommended print paper. See Section 1
Getting Started/Paper
Guidelines
Q
Ensure that the recommended print side is facing up when loading paper
into the feeder.
Q
Store print materials in an acceptable environment.
NOTE: If the remedies described above do not eliminate the error code in the
Display and you are sure that no paper remains in the paper path, do the
following:
Turn off the power switch, pull the power cord from the wall outlet, wait for at
least one minute, then insert the power cord back into the wall outlet. Turn
the power switch on. The machine should be at the normal standby mode.
