NTERNET CONNECTION VIA
S
ATELLITE

Depending on the chosen provider an Internet connection via satellite
offers the following advantages:
Œ
Data transmission at 2 Mb per second (and higher) is considerably
faster than with a normal Internet connection (for example 768 Kb per
second with a standard DSL connection) and is thus particularly
suitable for large quantities of data
. The upper limit for the size of files
that can be transferred is 700 MB depending upon the provider.
Œ
The telephone or modem connection (RDT connection) can be
disconnected during the download, i.e. you save online time.
Œ
Downloads take place using a so-called Multicasting System, i.e. large
files are transmitted simultaneously to several users at previously agreed
times. You can therefore also benefit from downloads that other users
have requested.
Œ
Data filtering is possible, i.e. you can restrict the information group and
you only need to receive/store on your computer the data that you really
want to have (Unicast System).
