MAINTENANCE BOX 2 
ERROR

REPLACE MAINTENANCE 
BOX 2

The Borderfree maintenance 
tank is not installed correctly or 
needs to be replaced.

Reinstall the maintenance tank or replace it 
if needed. See page 137.

MAINT BOX NEAR THE END 
OF SERVICE LIFE

One of the maintenance tanks 
is nearing the end of its service 
life and needs to be replaced.

Check the LCD screen to see which 
maintenance tank needs to be replaced. 
Replace the maintenance tank; see 
page 137.

MAINTENANCE REQUEST

A printer part may need to be 
replaced soon. 

Note the code number and contact your 
service provider as described on page 13. 

NO INK CARTRIDGES

INSTALL INK CARTRIDGE(S)

Ink cartridge(s) not installed, or 
an incorrect cartridge is 
installed.

Install ink cartridge(s); see page 126. Do not 
reinstall the incorrect cartridge.

NO FRONT COVER

ATTACH THE FRONT COVER 
THEN RESTART PRINTER

The front cover is not installed 
or installed incorrectly.

Turn off the printer, then install /reinstall the 
front cover correctly.

NO REAR UNIT

INSTALL THE REAR UNIT

The rear unit is not installed or 
installed incorrectly.

Install the rear unit.

NO MAINTENANCE BOX 1

INSTALL MAINTENANCE 
BOX 1

The Ink maintenance tank is 
not installed.

Install the Ink maintenance tank; see 
page 137.

NO MAINTENANCE BOX 2

INSTALL MAINTENANCE 
BOX 2

The Borderfree maintenance 
tank is not installed.

Install the Borderfree maintenance tank; see 
page 137.

NO PAPER CASSETTE

INSTALL PAPER CASSETTE

The paper cassette is not 
installed or installed incorrectly.

Install/reinstall the paper cassette.

NOT ENOUGH EMPTY 
SPACE

REPLACE THE 
MAINTENANCE BOX 1

The ink maintenance tank is too 
full for head cleaning.

Replace the maintenance tank; see 
page 137.

NOZZLE CLOG DETECTED

NOT ENOUGH INK
CONTINUE CLEANING?
YES (RECOMMENDED)
NO

There is not enough ink to 
perform cleaning.

Select YES, then follow the instructions to 
replace the ink cartridge.
