The flash does not fully 
light the subject.
•  The subject is not in range of the flash: Position the subject in range of the flash (
P 135).
•  The flash window is obstructed: Hold the camera correctly (
P 23).
•  Fast shutter speed selected: Choose a slower shutter speed (
P 29, 30).
Pictures are blurred.
•  The lens is dirty: Clean the lens (
P 121).
•  The lens is blocked: Keep objects away from the lens (
P 23).
• 
s is displayed during shooting and the focus frame is displayed in red: Check focus before shooting 
(
P 128).
• 
k is displayed during shooting: Use the flash or a tripod (P 42).
Pictures are mottled.
•  A slow shutter speed is selected at high temperatures: This is normal and does not indicated a mal-
function.
•   The camera has been used continuously at high temperatures or a temperature warning is displayed: Turn 
the camera off and wait for it to cool down.
Pictures are not recorded.
Power was interrupted during shooting.    Before connecting the AC power adapter or DC coupler, 
turn the camera off.    Leaving the camera on can result in corrupted files or damage to the memory 
card or internal memory.
The viewfinder display is 
not clear.
Diopter adjustment is not adjusted correctly: Slide the diopter adjustment control up and down until the 
viewfinder display is in sharp focus (
P 4).
Sounds made by the 
camera are recorded with 
movies.
•  The focus mode selector is set to AF-C. Select a different focus mode (
P 51, 72).
•  Intelligent Face Detection is on: Turn Intelligent Face Detection off (
P 58).
