VigorSwitch G2080 User’s Guide

Default: Disable
Active -
In Active mode, IGMP snooping switch will periodically
issue the Membership Query message to all hosts attached to
it and gather the Membership report message to update the
database of the Multicast table. By the way, this also reduces
the unnecessary multicast traffic.
Passive -
In Passive Snooping mode, the IGMP snooping will not
periodically poll the hosts in the groups. The switch will
send a Membership Query message to all hosts only when it
has received a Membership Query message from a router.

Unknown Multicast:
If the switch received multicast traffic from an IP multicast
data source, but there is not any client to send IGMP report
for the IGMP multicast registration on the switch. The IP
multicast traffic without IGMP registration is unknown
multicast.
Flooding -
If you set to flooding, the port received unknown multicast
traffic will be forwarded to all other ports on the switch.

Function name:
Allowed Group
Function description:
The allowed group function can limit the IGMP multicast group registration behavior on
the switch. You can set some specific allowed IP multicast groups. If the switch received an
IGMP report, but the IP multicast address is not included in the allowed IP multicast groups
list, the switch will not do IGMP registration for this received IGMP report. The switch
only accepts the IGMP report in the allowed group list, it must meet three parameters
setting (IP Range, VID and Port members) then it can do IGMP registration successfully.
