AVC8500 positioning and installation 
 
All operations must be carried out without connection to the mains power supply. 
Connection to the mains power supply is only performed after assembly of electrical parts and only after having 
verified that all connections are correct. 
 
Place the Codec in the desired location. 
1.  Connect the microphone. 
2.  Connect the “Aethra POD” Microphone (see cable 1). 
3.  Connect  System Audio/Video Outputs to main monitor (see cable 2). 
4.  Connect Video Input. 
5.  Connect the LAN input to the network. (see cable 3). 
6.  Connect the ISDN inputs to the network terminations. When connecting each ISDN access point to the 
connectors available on the Codec, it is advisable to have at hand and make note of the corresponding telephone 
numbers ( see cable 4). 
 
Connect the ISDN input (ISDN connector or network interface) only to a network termination (NT1). Do 
not connect the equipment to an external telecommunications line. 
 
7.  Connect supplementary audio or video equipments to the available inputs/outputs. 
8.  Connect the power supply. (see cable 5). 
9.  Switch on the TV monitor. 
10.  Switch ON the on/off switch placed on the Codec rear. 
11.  Press the on-button “Soft Key”. 
 
“Soft Key” is not a mechanical ON/OFF switch, but enables the remote control to perform the Codec on 
and off switching function.  
 
12.  Wait for the main user interface to appear. 
 
The status LED at the front of the Codec indicates the following: 
LED on: the codec is on and normally operating. 
LED flashing: the codec power is on, but the Codec is in standby mode.” 
LED off: the codec power is either off or not connected.
