Network Address Translation (NAT)
118814-D Rev. 00
17-9
 Parameter:
Default IP Address
 Default:
0.0.0.0
 Options:
An IP address
 Function:
Leaving this at the default of 0.0.0.0 directs new
incoming NAT connections to the router. This allows
TELNET, SNMP and HTTP access to the router from
the public network via the single NAT address.
Changing the IP address here diverts new incoming NAT
connections to this IP address. This may be useful if you
want all incoming connections to be mapped to your
workstation; but it takes effect for all TCP & UDP paths.
This can cause problems if remote managers need to get
into the NAT router for configuration purposes (they are
directed to the new IP address, not the router itself).
If you want to direct specific protocols to specific IP
addresses, use Static NAT entries (
).
 Instructions:
Leave the default value, or enter an IP address to which
new incoming NAT connections are diverted.
 Parameter:
Timeout for Dynamic Entries
 Default:
180 (seconds)
 Options:
A valid time in seconds
 Function:
The timeout period for dynamic (system learned) NAT
entries.
