The MDS Cloud Service collects and stores information from End-user devices such as multifunctional 
copiers and/or printers via the Internet.   

 

MDS Cloud Service Diagram 

The MDS Cloud Service is comprised of the following system elements:  

 MDS Collection & Configuration Agent (MDS CC Agent) –

 The 

MDS CC Agent is a PC application that is installed locally at the End-
user site.  It is responsible for collecting and aggregating device 
information at the End-user site before sending it to the MDS Cloud. 
The CC Agent will access MDS Cloud once a day to check for updates to 
itself and automatically update when available

.  When non-Canon 

devices are involved, the MDS CC Agent will automatically download 
and install an additional software module which Canon licenses from 
Netaphor Software, Inc.   This Netaphor module will periodically access 
a Netaphor License Server in order to verify its license status.  The 
Netaphor module will only provide the Netaphor server with the total 
quantity of devices managed; no other information is sent to the 
Netaphor server. SOAP/HTTPS are used as the communication
