Connecting the Printer to the Network

The Phaser 3400 personal laser printer is designed to be connected to
the network with 10BaseT or 100BaseT Category 5 (Cat-5) cables. For
more information, please consult your local retailer.
The following illustration shows a typical installation.

1.

If the printer is on, turn it off.

2.

Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the
printer.

3.

Connect the other end of the cable to the hub. (Do not connect the
cable to a port on the hub labeled

Uplink.

)

4.

Turn on the printer.

5.

Refer to the software setup instructions for your environment.
The Ethernet hub shows the status of devices through indicator lights.
There are also two green indicator lights on the back of the
Phaser 3400 printer, next to the network cable. The top indicator light
should always be on when the printer is on; it indicates a live
connection to the network. The lower indicator light should be
blinking; it indicates that the network card is active.
