CD-ROM Drive Replacement Procedure for the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112

  How To Replace the CD-ROM Drive
Step 9
Remove the power cable from the back of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112.
How To Replace the CD-ROM Drive
Replacing the CD-ROM drive for the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112 consists of the following activities:
Removing the Old CD-ROM Drive
Caution
Handling the CD-ROM drive can result in static damage. Use an antistatic wrist strap, static-dissipating 
work surface, and antistatic bags when handling and storing the CD-ROM drive.
Step 1
Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the four captive screws in the corners of the drive bay housing in 
the front of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112.
Step 2
Remove the plate over the drive bay housing.
Step 3
Remove the two screws on the CD-ROM drive.
Step 4
Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the four captive screws in the corners of the floppy drive housing in 
the back of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112.
Step 5
Pull the floppy drive housing partially out of the back of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112 chassis.
Step 6
From the back of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112, remove the IDE cable from the inner connector inside 
the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112 and remove the power cables from the CD-ROM drive.
Step 7
Slide the CD-ROM drive out of the front of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112 chassis.
Installing the New CD-ROM Drive
Step 1
Remove the new CD-ROM drive from the antistatic bag.
Step 2
Locate the IDE cable and attach it to the back of the CD-ROM drive. Be sure to attach it the correct way.
Step 3
Thread the free end of the IDE cable through the empty CD-ROM drive slot from the front of the 
Cisco MeetingPlace 8112 towards the back.
Step 4
Attach the power cable to the back of the CD-ROM drive.
Caution
The housing for these power connectors are configured to ensure that the cable connects correctly. Do 
not force the power cable connector into the connector in the CD-ROM drive.
